Tips to Make Daycare Drop-Offs a Little Bit Easier
Daycare drop-offs aren’t always the easiest, on both the parents and the child. From the alligator tears that both parties experience to the parting words that might make saying goodbye a little more difficult, there are reasons that drop-offs are so challenging. If you’re currently struggling with your early morning drop-off, then today’s blog is for you. In today’s post, we are going to cover a few of the ways that you can make your drop-off go a little bit smoother. Let’s dive right in.
Put On a Smile
Like we said earlier, drop-offs aren’t easy on parents either. Even if you have a difficult time dropping your little one off at daycare, it’s crucial that you wear a smile and maintain a positive attitude. Putting on a brave face is just one of the ways that you can ensure your child feels comfortable as you walk into the daycare facility. If they recognize that you are comfortable and happy, it’ll be a lot easier for them to feel at ease.
Bring Something From Home
One of the primary reasons that children get so nervous when being dropped off at daycare is because they’re not entirely comfortable with this new place. While braving a smile can definitely make the experience a little bit easier on them, letting them bring a tiny piece of home to put them at ease.
Whether your child has a favorite toy or a blanket that they use to calm down, let them bring it for the first couple of days that they attend daycare. Slowly they’ll start to become more comfortable and won’t need to bring this little piece of home to the daycare.
Start Small
While it’s not always an option, starting with part-time daycare is a great way to slowly get your children comfortable with the facility that they will be attending. If you are a work-from-home parent or you have a trusted family member or friend that could watch your child for a portion of the day, take advantage of this option. This is without a doubt a fantastic way to ensure that your child is eased into this new experience.
Get Ready the Night Before
More often than not, it’s a lack of preparation that leads to slow mornings. One of the ways that you can ensure this isn’t the reason your drop-offs are so slow is by getting ready the night before. If there are extra clothes that you need to have packed, snacks that you need to bring, or additional tasks that need to be done to make your morning easier, get them done in advance. By doing so, you can buy yourself some extra time when saying goodbye to your little one.
